The Study of “Loyalty” Difference between Bushido

Abstract: There is “loyalty” in both Japanese Bushido and West European Knight. But because of geostrategy, political structure and economic interests, there are differences in not only the spiritual authority of the “loyalty”, but also the real world of the “loyalty”. Bushido “loyalty” is specific, one-way, absolute, and only devoted to the only master. Meanwhile, the “loyalty” is absolutely obedience, which will help to generate spirit of cooperation,but easily leads to can’t distinguish right and wrong, good and evil. The “loyalty” of Knight is diverse, two-way and relative, that’s to say, one Knight can devoted to one or more masters. The mutual rights and obligations are the condition of “loyalty”, which is easy to generate the individual spirit. Differences between the two kind of “loyalty” profoundly shape their societies.
